Here are a few diverse pieces from THE THREE CABALLEROS.
First, a wonderful "global view" of Mexico:
A creative setup with a live action movie in a frame...
A floral dazzler with an unusual yellow/orange/red color palette (opening flower is a cel overlay):
And finally, two very simple but stunning B/Gs, over which the animation really pops. This is a great argument for understatement!

THREE CABALLEROS
Here's another look at Disney "south of the border."
Decades before JUNGLE BOOK, that vibe was appearing, as in this lavish B/G.
Also in the lush tropical style, here's a digitally re-created pan B/G...
Here's a rare vertical pan. (of course the bird is/was a cell overlay.)
And, continuing, a variety of THREE CABALLEROS B/G art...

Friday Night At The Movies
Here are four digitally reconstructed backgrounds from Disney's THREE CABALLEROS. Donald Duck was all over these... it took some doing, but I managed to get the job done!

THREE CABALLEROS
Here are two different treatments of the same street from THE THREE CABALLEROS. The first (like a pop-up book) is very cartoonish. The second is more like a chalk drawing.
Theoretically, they could have used one B/G and zoomed in for a close-up. instead, two B/Gs were painted and the textures are quite different.
This is intriguing to me. How about you?

Have you been to Baia?
Three different looks of one beautiful scene... a long shot, tighter shot, and a re-created pan close-up of this amazing background from the BAIA number in THREE CABALLEROS.
A few animated artifacts (dewdrops and sparkles) remain on the re-created pan. But the recreated pan reveals the scope of artistry by Disney even amidst the challenges of the 1940s.
